Industries in England's North West have
traditionally focused on the likes of textiles, shipping
and engineering. But shifting global markets have contributed
to the growth of new sectors such as biotechnology,
chemicals, aerospace and ICT.
The North West is the largest region outside
of London and the South East - with 12% of the UK’s
total population. It's leading cities are Chester, Liverpool,
Manchester, Lancaster and Carlisle.
Located on the border with Wales the region
has a long history of industry along with the natural
grandeur and beauty of the Lakes District - along with
Chester the Roman walled city.
